An everything bagel straight out the oven is an experience unlike any other. Sure, you’ve had warm bagels before (thanks, toaster!), but have you ever eaten one straight out of the oven? It’s a totally different experience. Making this everything bagel recipe is worth that experience alone.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Meh. Bagels just aren’t my thing,” you’ve probably never had a really good bagel before. Lehi Mills begs you to give this everything bagel recipe a chance.
These bagels are wonderfully chewy, moist without being soggy, and the everything seasoning adds a perfect extra crunch.
As a kid, did you think that everything bagels literally had every topping on them? Like sesame seeds, cinnamon sugar, raisins, garlic, chocolate chips, and salt? Like that scene in The Office, where Michael Scott orders “the works” on Pretzel Day.
You’ll be glad to know that “everything” really only means 5 ingredients. And they taste really good together, thankfully!

Easiest Everything Bagels
- 1 1/2 cups of warm water
- 2 3/4 teaspoons of instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon of white sugar
- 4 cups of Lehi Mills Turkey Brand Bread Flour
- 1-2 tablespoons of Honey
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2-4 tablespoons of everything bagel seasoning (homemade or store bought)
1. Combine the water, yeast, and white sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook. Add the flour and salt and mix at low speed until combined, about two minutes. Once the dough is combined and lopsided in the mixer, knead the dough at low speed for 4-5 minutes. You can also do this by hand.
2. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and cover with a dish towel. Place the dough in a cold oven with the light on and let rise for one hour or until doubled in size.
3. Preheat the oven to 425 F.
4. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Split the dough into 10 equal sections. Shape each section into a round ball, then poke a hole with your index finger. Wearing the bagel like a ring on your index finger, swing your finger in circles. You’ll feel silly, but it’s the easiest way to shape the bagel. This part is fun to do with kids!
5. Place each shaped bagel on a cookie sheet and cover with a kitchen towel.
6. Prepare the water bath. Boil a large pot of water. Add tablespoon or two of honey and stir. Lower two bagels into the boiling water carefully. Let boil for one minute and then flip to the other side. Let boil for another minute. Remove carefully and place on a greased cookie sheet. Repeat for the remaining bagels. You’ll probably need two cooking sheets.
7. Brush with the beaten egg and top with everything bagel seasoning.
8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Rotate the pan halfway through baking.
9. Let cool and slice. Serve with cream cheese or butter. Enjoy!
