How to Host a Cookie Swap
The holiday season always seems to involve a lot of baking — from blowing the dust off your great-grandma's gingerbread cookie recipe to making early morning cinnamon rolls to figuring out your neighbor's holiday gift. Each is an opportunity to try out different recipes and treats, but can often lead to a massive mess in the kitchen.
Want to know our secret to trying out different treats without having a stack of dirty dishes in your sink? Host a Holiday Cookie Swap! Don't know what a cookie swap is, or how to host one? We've got you; keep reading and learn all about our favorite holiday event.
A cookie swap is an event where a dozen friends (though you can totally invite more people over) bring about two dozen of their favorite Christmas cookies. This gives everyone an opportunity to try different treats without the mess! Use the opportunity to exchange recipes, baking tips, and holiday gift ideas.
To start your cookie swap, put all the cookie pans and sheets out on the table or counter. Everyone then goes around and grabs one or two cookies from each pan, so that by the end, they have a plate piled high with different types of holiday desserts.
We recommend baking your cookies right before everyone arrives. Not only will the cookies be warm for your guests, but the delicious scent of baking will perfume the air of your house and make everyone hungry — in addition to getting everyone in the holiday spirit.
If you don't know what to bake for your holiday cookie exchange, we've got dozens of cookie recipes to try out! If you use one of our cookie mixes, it'll be so simple too. All you'll have to do is add the wet ingredients to the dry, stir the bowl, drop onto a cookie sheet, and bake.
You’ll be sharing the quality and taste of homemade without the stress and time-consuming preparation of baking from scratch. You may feel guilty for making something that requires so little time and effort when your friends are making something from scratch. But don't worry about it; it's the taste that counts, and you've got that in spades.
