Enchanting Easter Egg Sugar Cookie Recipe

Enchanting Easter Egg Sugar Cookie Recipe

When you hear the word Easter, what is the first think that comes to your mind? Usually something involving an Easter egg, bunny, or hunt right? And it's usually in that order too. When we thought up this treat, we weren't thinking of those cheap brightly colored plastic things that you stick terrible candy in and hide throughout your yard. No way. Instead, we were thinking of a classy treat you could serve at an Easter brunch or, yes, even after an Easter egg hunt.

These Easter sugar cookies are adorable and super easy; though, to be completely honest, those are really the only kinds of recipes we create. The best part is? Since it's made using our sugar cookie mix, your kids will love helping you make and decorate these cookies. So, let's jump to the recipe so you can begin baking new memories with your family!

Easter Egg Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pouch of Sugar Cookie mix
  • 1 cup of butter, softened (not melted!)
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1 cup of melting chocolate
  • Sprinkles
  • White fondant

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine sugar cookie mix, softened butter, and water. Stir or mix with your hands until well incorporated.
  3. Roll out to a 1/4 inch thickness on a well-floured surface. Use an egg shaped (or oval) cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Place onto a greased or lined cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool.
  5. In a microwave, melt the chocolate, being sure to mix contents every 30 seconds until melted. Pour the sprinkles into a shallow bowl.
  6. Dip the face of a cooled cookie into the chocolate and then dip the cookie in the sprinkles. Circle it around until the face is covered in sprinkles.
  7. Remove and let dry on a cooling rack. Repeat for all Easter egg sugar cookies.
  8. Roll out the white fondant. Using the same egg shaped or oval cookie cutter, cut out egg sections. You can then use a knife to cut into the fondant, making a "crack" shape.
  9. Press the egg-shell shape onto the sugar cookies to create a cracked egg look (see picture for reference) and enjoy your Easter egg sugar cookies!

Note: if you allow kids to help, be prepared to have laughter and sprinkles galore!
